We have fire ants. This is not news to me. Matte of fact, I make it a point to run over every nest I see with the four-wheeler or three-wheeler. And now you all know why it may take me hours to return from a trip to fetch the horses.
But tonight, I've discovered ... we have fire ants on the back porch-ish area. Apparently living under this crack in the concrete right where we keep the feed barrel for the horses. This I discovered after being stung three times on the left foot. Not once on the right. The little bastards seem to have taken a liking to my left foot ... 4 out of five bites/stings appear to happen to it as opposed to my right.
Unfortunately, the nest being buried under concrete rather severely hinders my ability to dig that nest up good and make the little motherfuckers move. Fortunately, though, some flying insect fogger we had handy in the barn apparently repels/kills them. As it tends to blow the little beasties away when sprayed, it's not much for killing them .... However ... *grins smugly* it makes an excellent ant-barrier. They don;t like to cross and apparently they die if they do. I drew myself a circle of fogger foam around here I was standing, and proceeded to scrape up the last of the horse feed unmolested.
For good measure, I sprayed it down i the crack. I hope you die, you evil little bastards! MY hate of fire ants surpasses my hate of pretty muche evrything - wasps and hornets included.
And on that note, my foot itches like frickin' crazy and I'm going to try to go to bed anyway. Because I am tired and expect to be slave-driven for the better part of the day tomorrow. Oh, joy! /sarcasm
